Emmalyn Rose Cook was born on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at 3:24 PM. She was 7 lbs. and 8 oz. and 20 inches long. My labor began on Monday evening with contractions and back pain. I also had a low grade fever. On Tuesday morning we went to the doctor and I was put on a fetal and contraction monitor. Unfortunately even though I was having strong contractions they were not helping me to make any progress in labor. So, I was sent to the hospital to be put on their monitors. At the hospital they gave me an IV and tried to bring my fever down. When my doctor checked on me around 2:30 PM I still was having contractions and back pain and my fever had not gone down. So, the decision was made to do a C-section in case I had an infection that was causing the fever. Less than an hour later I was looking into the beautiful face of our sweet baby girl! Wint was able to be with me during the surgery and he got to take her out to the nursery for her first bath and to ring the "Happy Birthday" bell. We had lots of visitors at the hospital and at home. My recovery has gone really well and we even got to leave the hospital a day early.
